Excellent white and red wines are produced in a vast area watered by the river Isonzo (the source of the wine's name). It includes all or part of the territories of 21 communes of the province of Gorizia as well as the area around the provincial capital. The zone extends toward the border with Slovenia and it has long been the home of a viticulture of a high class.

Bianco, Rosso, Rosato and Vendemmia Tardiva.

The following versions are obtained from grapes of the corresponding varieties;

Chardonnay, Malvasia, Moscato Giallo, Moscato Rosa, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Riesling Italico, Sauvignon, Tocai Friulano, Traminer Aromatico, Verduzzo Friulano, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Franconia, Pinot Nero, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Schioppettino.
